After a recent sermon I knew of a major change it needed even before I left the stage. Usually it takes at least a few hours, sometimes a couple days, but when I preached on God's view of work from Ephesians 4:28, I knew I needed to address in a more helpful way those who were unemployed or under-employed.

Finding "the living Christ" in the New Testament presents no difficulty. Close your eyes and open it up and point, and you'll find Christ. But finding Jesus in the Old Testament holds a greater challenge.

Sunday's sermon from Ephesians 4:25 was about the need to be godly truth-tellers if we are to build strong relationships in the church. This is part of "putting off" sinful behavior and "putting on" godly behavior.

This spring (2013) many of us went away for an overnight retreat in Wilmington, NC....It was truly a blessing for all who attended.

Yesterday Phil preached on reasons we give our finances to the church. To put it as snappy as Sam Houston did: "When I got baptized, my wallet got baptized, too." One of the sections of the sermon gave a rationale for why Christians should (at least) tithe.

The SGM blog posted "What in the World is Holy Week"? by Walt Alexander, one of our fellow elders at the Knoxville SG church. It has some great helps for preparing our hearts for Easter. Note that we'll be having a Good Friday service to remind us to slow down and behold the cross.

Barna created a poll to evaluate how "Bible-minded" different cities were. The questions had to do with reading the Bible within the last seven days and believing in the accuracy of it. A "yes" to these answers meant a person was Bible-minded. Turns out that the Raleigh-Durham area is the 22nd most Bible-minded city they evaluated.
