Hi! This winter, I will be taking a course called Perspectives that is about the role each believer plays in God's plan to reach the nations. It is put together by the US Center for World Mission, the publishers of Mission Frontiers magazine.
I first started to take the class ten years ago in Charlotte. Through a life change, I moved before I was able to complete the course. But I had enjoyed the content so much that I have been looking forward to finishing the class ever since.
Now, Perspectives has come to RDU. The class meets one night a week and can be taken as a certificate course, for undergraduate credit, graduate credit, or even audited. The course text is a collection of essays and articles from a wide range of authors, and the teachers are a collection of professors, missionaries, and other Christian leaders. This is a great opportunity to learn about the biblical/theological basis for missions, about historical practices in missions, about the peoples of the world, and about what is currently happening all around the world. Attendees will also be challenged to consider the role God has for them, whether at home or abroad.
I hope you will read the short advertisement below, explore the website, and consider joining the class. As mentioned below, there is a discount for signing up before Thanksgiving, but you can also attend the first two classes for free if you are unsure and would like to try it out.
From the Perspectives RDU team
Perspectives is a 15-week course about God's heart for the nations and how He is redeeming all peoples to Himself. It is a challenge for all Christians to have a deeper, more intentional walk with God. Each week the class has a different speaker including seminary professors, missionaries, and leaders of Christian organizations. The course curriculum is comprised of articles from dozens of authors such as John Piper, Tim Keller, John Stott, Neil Cole, William Carey, Hudson Taylor, and more. Universities such as UNC and NCSU usually grant 3 hours of class credit upon successful completion of the course at credit level.
The Perspectives course is hosted in over 200 locations around the US, as well as in many other countries, and has impacted thousands of people worldwide. It is a collaboration between the Body of Christ from various denominations and backgrounds. For more information, visit our website.
