Several couples from church attended the tenth annual Hand of Hope fundraising banquet on November 5. Close to 300 people attended the dinner in support of Hand of Hope's ministry. Pam Tebow served as the banquet's guest speaker this year, and the evening was filled with encouraging stories from Pam and several Hand of Hope volunteers and clients of God's power and mercy and goodness working through the prayers and activity of his people.
Tonya Nelson, director of Hand of Hope, shared an encouraging summary of how God has worked over the last ten years: Hand of Hope has conducted over 1,500 life skills classes and has had over 22,000 total client appointments. God has provided 1,225 total births – an average of one every three days – and has accomplished 40 conversions!
Currently Hand of Hope has two facilities, one in Fuquay Varina and one in Raleigh across the street from an abortion clinic. Tonya shared the exciting news that God has provided an opportunity for Hand of Hope to purchase the house next to this abortion clinic! Using the gifts raised at the fundraising banquet, Hand of Hope plans to close on this house with their down payment in December.
There is still a tremendous amount of ground to cover; Wake County is averaging 20 abortions per day. Please continue to pray for fruitfulness and victories in Hand of Hope's ministry. Pray also that God would use the recent Center for Medical Progress abortion videos to change hearts and minds across our country. You can donate to Hand of Hope any time through their website, and there are many other opportunities to serve in practical ways. Please get in touch with Scott and Lisa Moonen if you'd like to find out more about ways you or your home group could serve Hand of Hope.
