Systematic Theology - Class 11 - The Holy Spirit and the Application of Redemption

Good morning. Today's class looked at the Holy Spirit and the Application of Redemption. We did a quick review of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit within the context of the Trinity, and then we looked at the "order of salvation" (ordo salutis). All brought out the glory of God's grace and power to save:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. (Eph 1:3-6)

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. (Rom 8:29-30)

On this page are linked the class notes and also the reading for next time, which is chapter 11 of my book, "Life in the Spirit." Here the focus is on being a Continuationist, spiritual gifts, and what it means to "keep in step with the Spirit" (Gal 5:25).
