A couple weeks ago (Sunday, January 20), the youth group set up an enormous shipping center in our church to bless our troops. I have to give credit to my wife, Shawn, and the kids for the idea.
Like Samaritans Purse, we felt we could bless a Special Forces Troop of 30 men by providing items from home and rally them on with prayer and goods that reminded them of home, and God's love. We provided a list of suggested items from Eric Martin's own personal experience. The list included, sports, gun/outdoor magazines, Christian reading material, games, unique food and snack stuff they cannot get on base, and more importantly home-baked goodness only a family can provide. The youth then wrote letters and Godly encouragement and placed them with pictures of our team in each box. We mailed 34 boxes in total, and asked for response from the platoon leader.
It was a great blessing to see dozens of our youth take an afternoon to bless others in the name of Christ.
