Mark Prater posted on the SG website the need for prayer as Hurricane Matthew makes its way to us. In particular he mentioned Cedric Moss, one of our SG pastors whose church is in Nassau in the Bahamas. Cedric told Mark that “Matthew is a most unusual hurricane. With other hurricanes, we’ve had a mixture of hurricane and tropical storm impact, but when you look at the forecast map, the entire Bahamas is in the red, meaning hurricane force winds. And Matthew is a Major Hurricane, with winds exceeding 110 mph.”
Cedric's prayer requests include:
- For Kingdom Life Church
- Pray that this hurricane will help us to grow in our trust in and dependency on the Lord.
- Pray that we grow in biblical community as we care for each other in Hurricane Matthew’s aftermath, especially for the needier ones in the church.
- Pray that we see and seize gospel opportunities resulting from the storm.
- Pray for wisdom for our church’s elders as we navigate a variety of decisions that we will undoubtedly face in the hurricane's aftermath.
- For The Bahamas
- Pray that we as a nation experience and recognize God’s merciful care throughout this powerful storm. Hurricane Matthew is a major hurricane (winds of at least 110 mph) that will impact the 700 islands and cays of The Bahamas, something that has not happened since 1929. This is most concerning, and there is an undeniable national sense of worry.
- Pray for our National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) workers and other personnel as they serve sacrificially during and after Hurricane Matthew.
- Pray for the government of The Bahamas as they prepare to deal with the effects of this Hurricane Matthew.
Our God can part seas when he wants or still them. We pray that God would be merciful to his people and their property as another storm comes our way.
Daniel
