The Usher team is a good mix of out-front and behind-the-scenes. Most of the time you arrive early to make sure the sanctuary is setup and ready for the services. You are responsible to open and close the doors to the auditorium at the right time. When necessary you are available to help someone new, late, or with a large family, find a good place to sit. You also call the meetings to order before worship and during the break.
On the days we celebrate the Lord's Supper, the Usher sets the tables and prepares the elements for the congregation. His final task is to take attendance by taking a head-count of the auditorium and classrooms, along with counting cars in the parking lot and passing that information on to the church office.
