This teaching concludes our 5-part discipleship class on the Inductive Bible Study Method (Observation, Interpretation, Application). This class covered the 7 main genres of the Bible: historical narrative, law, poetry, prophecy, Wisdom Literature, epistles, apocalyptic literature. We need to read a passage according to its genre to best grasp how the meaning is conveyed. All this is so that we might better hear the voice of God speaking to us from within the pages of Scripture. We want to hear God speaking directly to us in the Bible, since "all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Tim 3:16–17).
