God's purpose for the law is to reveal sin in our lives and to bring conviction of sin when we have failed to obey the law's command. The presence and power of sin in the life of the unbeliever when confronted with the law produces even more sin. The only acceptable way to resolve our miserable condition under law with sin is to savingly believe the gospel and place our trust in Jesus Christ. Only He can remove this just condemnation by his vicarious atonement on the cross.
