A Hand of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center in Fuquay-Varina, NC, is a Christian organization dedicated to pregnancy options education and the compassion of Jesus Christ. They assist women and girls facing unexpected pregnancies by offering free pregnancy tests, STD tests, ultrasounds, material assistance, parenting education, community and medical referrals, and peer counseling. In addition to trying to meet temporal needs, the staff and volunteers at A Hand of Hope also seek to meet the ultimate need by bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ into each situation. They begin each day with prayer and continue to pray for every person who comes to the center. This ministry is supported by several local churches and their members.

Opportunities to Serve

If you are interested in serving in any of the areas below, please contact Hand of Hope. Scott and Lisa Moonen head the SGC ministry.

A Hand of Hope has two major fundraisers each year: the Walk for Life and an Annual Banquet. Members of SGC help to make these events a success.

• The Walk for Life is an annual family event held the first Sunday afternoon in May at South Park in Fuquay-Varina. SGC members and others help to raise funds ahead of time through sponsors and then participate in the Walk. During the Walk, money is also raised through concessions (a hot dog lunch is served) and a silent auction, and there are fun activities for the kids.

• The Annual Banquet at Highgrove Manor is held in the fall. This is a semi-formal event with a gourmet dinner that includes a ministry update, testimonies from clients, and a guest speaker. While it is free to attend, an opportunity to support the ministry financially is extended. The Circle of Hope is a way to give throughout the year.

Nurses and ultrasound techs, volunteer counselors, administrative assistants, and more are needed to serve clients who come into the center. Typically, a volunteer works 4-6 hours once a week. Men are also needed to lead Bible studies and counsel the boyfriends who often come with clients. A more comprehensive list of volunteer opportunities is available here.

Service Projects

A Hand of Hope serves in an older building, so help is often needed with various projects such as painting, landscaping, remodeling, etc.

We lift up the Hand of Hope ministry in our prayers. Also, a group meets monthly at the center to pray for specific needs.
