What is Raleigh Rescue Mission?
Raleigh Rescue Mission (RRM) is both an overnight homeless shelter and a residential long-term recovery program for those who want to overcome addictions and other obstacles...which also includes providing medical treatment, counseling, life skills classes, vocational training and very importantly, discipleship!
How We Served
Our group made bag lunches to be handed out to the ladies and children that stayed in the shelter overnight. RRM needs volunteers to provide about 35 bag lunches every single day of the year! We also did some administrative work for their Christmas Blessings gift program (similar to Angel Tree). Our group filled out about 400 gift request tags representing men, women, and children currently or recently having been in the long-term residential program.
What Can You Do?
There are many opportunities to volunteer at their facility in downtown Raleigh, but for our group it worked out better to meet at one of our homes to work on the projects. It was really an enjoyable evening of fellowship and doing something that supports the folks at RRM in ministering to spiritual and material needs!
